Arting About (again).

Image
As I've said (typed) before I try not to rant too much on here and occasionally post everyday, normal stuff that may be of interest so here's a work related post. Just unveiled an arts commission/installation I completed alongside the Castlemilk Parish Men's Group who created a display about how they feel Castlemilk has progressed since the 1950's highlighting some of the people responsible for the positive change that has occurred over the years. I worked with them to translate their ideas into the artwork. Enjoy.

Just a wee reminder....

Dad Chat.

My fave Glasgow venue the GFT are hosting 'A conversation with fathers about autism' next week with broadcaster Stuart Cosgrove and communications specialist John Hatfield next week. According to the info I've received - ‘A conversation with fathers about autism’ will focus on the personal experiences of these two fathers who are at very different stages in their autism journey. The aim is to encourage more fathers to be open about their own situations and experiences.' Should be a good night! I'll be there in my capacity as an autistic parent and general question asker/advice (unsolicited or not) giver so expect a full review sometime soon. More info can be found here .

And Now For A Fest....

Image
Regular readers (if there are any) will probably know that apart from my occasional musings here I also blog about 'the films' over at the Arena of The Unwell (seriously tho' be warned as sometimes it can contain sweary words and - ulp - rudeness) and although I've posted a few film-based things here the two rarely meet. Until last weekend that is. You see, it was the annual Glasgow Frightfest film festival at the GFT, an event I've attended - as both a film goer and as a drawy-picture man - since it began, usually rolling home at some God forsaken time on a Sunday morning and quickly scribbling some thoughts on the film shown over at the Arena before scuttling off to bed. But this year it was a wee bit different. You see, quite a few of the films actually touched on - intentionally or otherwise - the issue of hidden disabilities with a couple working really well as a comment on the attitudes to Autistic folk so I thought I'd pop a few words about them
