Autastic Christmas!

Image
More exciting Autism-based Christmas event in Glasgow next week..... there's an Autism hour during The Riverside Christmas Festival on Sunday, December 2nd between 10am - 11am for people with access all day to a dedicated quiet space (which runs in the museum all year round but will be opened specially for the event) plus on Tuesday 4 December there's an Autism-friendly day at George Square market from 10am – 6pm.   Music will be quieter, flashing lights will be turned off and a warm and dry quiet room will be open plus they're  producing a map detailing the layout of the market and its key features. Not only that but the traders and market mangers will be onsite to answer any questions and all trained helpers will be wearing identifiable by their badges. We're going down so expect a review to follow! It's Glasgow at Christmas so it'll be fab!

Not So Secret Santa!

Just a quick update on Autism friendly stuff - as opposed to Autism ranting which seems to be the norm at the moment, sorry - to say that the rather lovely folk at House of Fraser on Buchanan Street are having Santa in this Christmas and will be having Autism friendly sessions in the mornings. And one of them is on my birthday which is nice. You can read my review of their Autism quiet space here and get more Santa info here .

Hey Janice....

Transport Tales.

....And this time it's scarily nothing to do with our podlings. As regular readers of this fine blog will know we started off the school year with an exciting adventure in incompetence and general lack of anything remotely resembling common sense when the head teacher of our youngest's old school decided to put in a risk assessment regarding taxi escorts and transport without our knowledge totally bypassing actual education department policy and ignoring the meetings that had been held before hand. The full story can be found elsewhere but suffice to say that nothing has actually been done to deal with this as yet and any attempt to contact/talk to Maureen McKenna (The Executive Director of Education) is either met with bored indifference or sarcasm (as my email from her in an earlier post shows). Oh and if you think trying to talk to her in person works forget it as she either runs off or attempts to talk down to you like a 5 year old whilst her lackeys explain that &quo

Aye!

Just came across this online....well it made me chuckle.
