Lockdown Blues.

Just a quick update cos frankly I'm a wee bit to upset/frustrated/shot to put much but after over a year of staying safe and following the rules we're all currently self-isolating due to a Covid scare at school, which kinda seems ironic after everything we've done - and not done - the past 18 months. I'm off work till it's passed as I'm working with a vulnerable group, the kids had to finish up a week early meaning that there was even more upset at them missing saying goodbye to their friends (again). Luckily(?) as far as we can tell/they can tell us the girls seemed to have a really mild case, Cass on the other hand got hit hard but just took himself out to his bed, feel so bad for him tho' seeing as he's not left the house (apart from for school) for over a year - seems so unfair! Ro is doing OK (to be honest she runs the whole house so could be on fire and still be running about looking after folk) but I'm getting all the sensory/stomach stuff I g

The Truth Is Out There.....

Been a wee bit of a bizarre week here and it's all to do with a tweet I posted regarding my home town of Sedgley in the West Midlands. You see, last Monday afternoon (7th June) I posted a photo I'd come across on an image board whilst searching for forest reference pics (It's an illustrator thing): I chose Sedgley as mainly because I thought it was funny and kinda summed up my home town. I mean as a kid we had a 'Devil Tree' behind the house as well as the infamous 'Zombie Lake' (and a local scary caravan dwelling serial killer 'Red Face' - it was the early 80s and less enlightened times, sorry) so why not aliens? Anyway I showed it to Rho, had a giggle and thought nothing else of it, until that is a few days later when it had amassed over a million views. Crikey I thought and then got back to tweeting about bad movies and the like.   It was then that things got really weird. First there were the emails from various newspapers followed by even more h

In The Loud House.

Image
Was on Radio Scotland today talking about noise and Autism with Kaye Adams, short but sweet due to topics overrunning but still fairly interesting. Must admit tho' I got a wee bit starstruck being on with Poppy Szkiler, as my nan would always threaten to phone the Noise Abatement Society when I was particularly noisy as a child.  As a (vaguely) amusing aside, being young I didn't realize it was an actual organization - I thought it was someone named Noisy Bateman who turned up at your house like some kind of whispering Batman....   Anyway you can read the article that prompted the discussion here and you can listen to my dulcet tones here . Enjoy!
