Finally get to share a commission I've been working on for the last few months - cover design and vignette portraits for the Routledge International Handbook of Children's Rights & Disability.

A total change of pace but a brilliant project to be involved in.





And they said some nice things about me too, which is always good!

    Been a really hard few days trying to process everything regarding that incident in Leeds this week where an Autistic teen was brutally (yes really) harassed and manhandled by the police for the heinous crime of being a wee bit tipsy and saying a police officer "looked like her lesbian nana" and how it feels as an Autistic parent. A group of children, including Autistic ones in a lovely Mental Deficiency Institution (1956).       Over 60 years since the first medical mention of Autism in the UK and here's where we are.  I really don't have the words, we're seen as absolutely nothing to the majority of folk.   Absolutely not a lesbian grandmother on Thursday.   Seriously it's fucking terrifying - A says she's a lesbian and gets really excited if she sees what she thinks is another lesbian when we're out as she feels like she's 'seen' or belongs... It's that time of the year again where I drag this out for its annual airing. Enjoy. In those dreamy pre-Coronavirus days, I'd spend the time between drawing stuff for a living and wandering around meeting various folk to find out what they actually want me to draw (it keeps me off - well on - the streets I guess) I spend most of my time inanely blogging about films. Now I just do that constantly obviously. You can find my ramblings here but beware as it's frequently not safe for work according to Google. And it's probably not safe to read at home too. Well Blade Runner fans we made it! Yup, the movie is no longer science fiction seeing as from today it's set right here right now. Well it;s only really right here if you're reading this in Los Angeles but you know what I mean. Anyway thought that was as good a reason as any to repost this plus if enough folk leave me nice comments it may be the boot up the arse I need to finish it. Nothing like hinting for (faint) praise is there? Well at least I'm honest. A while back I submitted an academic paper on the fun filled idea of Ridley Scott's classic Blade Runner (1982) being the most Autistic movie ever made. Yes, I know I need to get out more. Anyway, turns out that although the folk concerned liked it the whole thing didn't really fit in with the conference in general so unfortunately couldn't be presented. Me not fitting in?
