Reasons Why....

Image
Folk have been asking why I find the Autism/Nazi posts so offensive (yes there are people that stupid) so for anyone still wondering why, here's an article from the Holocaust Memorial Trust :   Hope that makes it clear. And whilst you process that think about this - Around 275,000 disabled people were killed by the Nazis, today the UK government will attend the Holocaust Remembrance Day services before heading back to Westminster to announce their plans to cut disability benefits this coming Wednesday. And all whilst attempting to legalize assisted suicide behind closed doors. Have a great week everyone.

A Request....

"Orange man's bad friend done Nazi salute, let's make Autism jokes"   Seriously if you read this blog and have posted any of those oh so hilarious memes then fuck off with that shite...it's kinda tiring now.

Couldn't let Nastassja Kinski's birthday pass without a mention here so here you go.   And for those of you wondering what it has to do with 'The Autism' I suggest you read this . Enjoy.

An Aside...

'X' did me proud last night by the way.

Peachy Keen.

Still processing the death of David Lynch here, like Bowie he's been a huge presence/influence on my life since I first saw Eraserhead as an impressionable 14 year old film fan and I'll admit it now that all of the sinister subtexts, oppressive sound designs and dark humour was lost on me at the time - I just saw a director speaking exactly the same language that I did and I fell in love with his work (in that way only an obsessive Autistic can) immediately. I could wax lyrically for hours about how influential Lynch was and how his work was truly groundbreaking, throwing in tales of my days at art school when an unknown student (for reasons only they were aware of) spent 6 months leaving photos of Henry Spencer in my locker, how at one of the Peachy Keen Lynch nights Rho and myself hosted a guy turned up who was the spitting image of Killer Bob - we thought he was in fancy dress for the night but it turned out that he was just there for a drink with no idea who Bob was (he di...

RIP Tony Slattery.

Image
So sad to hear that the rather wonderful Tony Slattery has died,  I met him way back in 2019 after he'd seen an illustration I did of him as Doctor Who (he auditioned for the TV movie in '95).     He saw it online and liked it and politely asked for a copy and I was glad to oblige!     If there ever was a national treasures national treasure it would be this man.  Not only was he a story-weaving wizard but an all round top bloke to boot.   RIP sir.

Bowie in The Bar.

To show it's not all doom and gloom here - some photos from last nights annual David Bowie event (held in The Admiral Woods - THE most Autistic friendly pub in Glasgow fact fans) featuring some rather splendid DJ equipment and a smattering of my visuals. Enjoy.

A Museum Aside.

On this day in 1985, Clive Sinclair launched the Sinclair C5 little knowing that Cassidy would adopt it as his version of the Batmobile...first thing he heads to at the Riverside Museum!

Social (Security) Works.

Image
I don't want to jinx it but it appears that things are looking up in 2025 as it seems that 8 months after cancelling Cassidy's DLA due to the new Scottish system not recognising that you can have more than one disabled person living at the same address(!) that his Adult Disability Payment is finally back on track! Absolutely shocking length of time to be left attempting to sort it out - and yes, there's nothing in place to just reinstate it when it's a mistake at their end because reasons - but I have to say that if there was one shining light throughout this whole administrative shitstorm it would be the fact that every single staff member I've dealt with at Social Security Scotland has been an absolute star. So cheers to them at least. Especially the staff member who came round for Cassidy's 1:1 interview over Christmas, lovely guy. Now that's off the list there's just housing repairs, why Social Work actually exist and what it is they actually do exce...
