A Slight Social Work Aside...

Image
Was just going to add this to the last Social Work post but thought nah, no-one would see it so here it is. Anyway bizarre as it may seem it appears that out of all the young person referred to Partick Social Work for additional support/help with travel to/from college not a single one of them has had anything put in place. Odd that isn't it? I have my suspicions as to why but I'm far too polite to post them here.

Hart Beat.

BOTD 1925 - Tony Hart.  One of my art heroes, was lucky enough to 'assist' him at a National Playday event in the 90s...got my shirt signed by him at the end of the day!    Treasure it always!

Autism Plays Itself Updates.

Image
It's nice to share some good news for a change so here's an update on our little documentary that seems to be going quite big at the moment. Autism Plays Itself is screening (in competition) at the Folkstone Documentary Festival on Saturday 19th October and at Archivio Aperto Bologna Italy on 24-27 October, again in competition. There are other (very exciting) developments - hopefully - happening but I can't say much more except watch this space. What an actual great end to a fairly mad week!

(Don't) Knock on Wood.

Couldn't let today go by without wishing a Happy 100th Birthday to the one and only Edward D Wood Jr.         Little known fact - the minister that married us was from Ed and Kathy's church in Vegas.

On A Brighter Note....

Sharing a commission from last year that has just been released (production turn arounds can be long!) - Faux 70s movie poster art for Robin Elliott-Knowles sequence in The Stimming Pool - a hybrid film that presents the possibilities of a world informed by autistic perspectives and perception.    You can find more info on the film here and enjoy the various versions of the art leading to the final design here .

Social Work Season Finale!

Image
Finally heard back from Social Work and it's a good un! It appears that they've decided to cancel any support Cassidy had in place (which to be fair was absolutely fuck all) because we've 'made no effort' (according to them) to sort out any of the paper work re: guardianship/re-instating hid adult disability payment etc ourselves.... Bizarrely this is what we requested support with to begin with. Obviously the fact that we had to wait for the schools to return to get supporting letters, having to escort the kids to college/work at college 3 days a week alongside then having to do laundry, shopping and the like on the other 2 days (as well as trying to get the house sorted - still - isn't reason enough to give us the support to begin with. Plus there's a massive lie (or do we have to say untruth or there was some confusion?) in the letter that says that Rho told them we didn't actually require any support plus add to the fact we hadn't rung them back
