Counting Down....

...to World Autism Acceptance Week/month/fortnight/Day (no-one is ever sure) 2025.

So from Wednesday 2nd April get ready for 7 days (or more) of rambles, rants and vaguely amusing tales of an Ash-based Autistic nature that may contain embarrassing cult movie mentions and pictures of dodgy haircuts but mainly old stuff repurposed for those new to my blog but with a wee bit of newness too in the vague hope of getting a few more readers....work/life permitting.

Tho' this years post maybe slightly more annoyed than normal.

And if you're wondering, according to the UN, the theme for World Autism Day 2025 is "Advancing Neurodiversity and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)", which highlights the intersection between Neurodiversity and global sustainability efforts, showcasing how inclusive policies and practices can drive positive change for autistic individuals worldwide and contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.

Right.

 So just words then?

I mean I'd just settle for a wee bit of support regarding college.

Oh and some house repairs but I'm obviously asking for the wrong stuff.

Anyway as a wee bit of history (see? this blog is educational) the United Nations General Assembly designated 2 April as World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) way back in 2007 and has worked to promote the full realization of human rights and fundamental freedoms for autistic individuals, ensuring their equal participation in society. Over the years, significant progress has been made, driven in large part by autistic advocates who have worked tirelessly to bring the lived experiences of autistic individuals to the forefront of global discussions.

Except in Scotland obviously.

The 2007 General Assembly resolution (A/RES/62/139) highlighted the need to raise public awareness of autism.

Today, more than 17 years later, the global movement has expanded beyond awareness to actively promoting acceptance, appreciation, and inclusion, recognizing the contributions autistic people make to their communities and the world at large.

Sounds good eh?

Pity then that none of this actually happens in real life.

Which is why this year I say screw the acceptance let's go for all out agitation.

You're welcome.
