Charge of The Light Brigade.

Well two weeks into my photo-therapy treatment and it's going well, true I feel like I've got hellishly itchy - and really sore - sunburn all over my legs and have taken to having to wear big loose clown trousers around the house but already the results are pretty positive with a noticeable reduction in dragon scales with almost none around my ears and head.

Plus I have a really healthy pink glow around my cheeks which is nice.

The staff wait patiently to see what pants I'm wearing this week.

 

True there's a faint aroma of barbecue when you're in the machine and a slight fear that some kind of Final Destination style hi-jinks may occur at any moment but all in all it's a lot less scary/intrusive/embarrassing than I thought plus the staff have been absolutely brilliant and totally understanding of my slightly annoying Autistic need for information and chat regarding the treatment.

Two weeks down with eight more to go....fingers crossed it works!

      With the laydees away today at a dance performance in Stirling (ably aided by Ro) Cassidy and I were left to entertain ourselves today.  And what a top day we've had. As regular readers (and folk who know us) will be aware, Cassidy absolutely loves The Riverside Museum in Glasgow ( especially the Sinclair C5 ) and today we realised there was a special "Festival of Fire" event being held by the Scottish Fire Brigade Heritage Trust showcasing both past and present Firefighting appliances and the rich history of the fire service in Scotland. And let's be honest, what proper Autist doesn't love a fire engine?  Alongside the fire engines (and fantastic assortment of vehicles on display) there has been of late a rather nice mini Star Wars exhibition on too, featuring a variety of droids, vehicles and characters that both Cassidy and the girls had visited previously which was finishing today so I thought brilliant we can go see that again too! Day sorted....

Autism Plays Itself.

So excited to finally be able to share our (award winning) little movie AUTISM PLAYS ITSELF with everyone.   A film shot in 1957 in at the Maudsley Hospital, London, captures the movements and behaviour of children under observation for atypical behaviour. In the present day, three autistic respondents watch the footage, bringing new insightful interpretations of the children’s behaviour as they explore the sparse environment of the clinic. Through speculation and identification, with wit and audacity, the responses forge a new soundtrack from an autistic point of view. As the film evolves, it takes on the rhythms and repetitions of the children’s activities, becoming a playful homage to the body language of autism. Little Big Prannet.

Regular readers may have seen the post from a few weeks back regarding the removal of the seating used primarily by disabled students and their support staff at  City of Glasgow College and how it'd been replaced by a large, self-congratulatory poster. Looking into the issue I became aware that the college principal ( and Chief Executive Officer) Paul Little was behind the decision so decided to email him about it. Alas I received  no reply. As luck would have it I bumped into him in college today and  actually got a chance to discuss it with him. Well if being shouted at like an errant child for a mere nobody like me daring to question his decision whilst he shook his fist and turned an ever brighter shade of red is a discussion i mean.    Anger is an energy.
