Skippy.

Huzzah! After over 2 months of telling them that it's full and that the kids (especially Cassidy) are slowly going stir crazy because he can't go in the garden the skip has finally been uplifted!

Regular readers will remember that we were given it in March to help us get ready to move in April (to the house that we aren't allowed to talk about) but like everything else pertaining to our move/repairs it ended up just getting ignored no matter how many times we asked/begged for it to be picked up.

The main reason it couldn't be moved was truly bizarre - it seemed that because someone in the street had put rubbish in it (as always happens) it couldn't be moved till the guilty party had taken the rubbish out.

Housing even sent letters out to the neighbours ordering them to remove the unauthorised junk.

Seriously, the letter about misusing a skip was more of a priority to them than actually picking up the thing, so in the meantime the girls haven't been able to have their get-togethers with their pals (a huge part of their summer routines) so feel really disconnected from them and Cassidy hasn't been able to get rid of all his excess energy by scootering around the garden.

Things they'd be aware of if they bothered to ask.

Saying that tho' we did point this out to them and they didn't listen.

Quelle surprise.

A skip (not ours) shown for illustrative purposes only.

To be fair it only took a week and a half for them to reply to our last text about it (the message had got mixed up with something else or some other half-arsed excuse) and I'm sure our worker calling them about it (and pointing out that it was a fire hazard - something housing appear to be obsessed with) had nothing to do with them finally pulling their finger out.

It's a pity then that they decided that we didn't actually need to be told when it was getting picked up because obviously living in a small cul-de-sac we wouldn't have to make sure the area outside the house was free of cars.

Or that we were at home.

As luck would have it the skip man (worlds worst superhero name I know) turned up at 8:30 in the morning and there were no cars blocking the house - except ours which we could move - so it actually turned out OK.

A cynical person would be inclined to think that they didn't get in touch to tell us the pick-up date/time so that on the chance it couldn't be removed they'd be able to somehow blame us but to be honest I don't think there's anyone working for them that'd be competent enough to actually think of that.

But for now the garden is skip free and the girls are excitedly organising a (slightly late) summer party whilst we wait to see what new hell housing have in store for us next.

Joy.
